Evolution vis-à-vis Creation

The theory of evolution challenges the religious story of creation. Therefore, it is not surprising that as soon as the general public got wind of this theory, opposition to it began. Throughout history, opposition to evolutionary theory has worn many faces, but all its versions originated in religious belief. Contrary to what people sometimes think, the proponents of evolution have never claimed that intelligent creation is impossible, but that it did not happen in practice. Some supporters of evolution even tried to create life in a lab, and an example of it can be seen in Craig Venter's Synthetic life project.81
